Who We Are and What We Are Not

Essex Lodges is an independent directory. We write about log cabins, lodges, and cottages across Essex, the Dedham Vale, and the wider Stour and Blackwater countryside, then link out to the booking partner who handles the stay.

We are not a tour operator. We are not a booking platform. We do not own, run, clean, or manage any of the properties featured on the site. Every reservation, payment, and guest service interaction happens between you and the booking partner you click through to.

How a Booking Actually Happens

You find a lodge you like on Essex Lodges, click "Check Availability", and land on the booking partner's site. From that point onward:

• The partner controls live availability, final pricing, dates, and any deposit or payment terms
• The partner's own terms, cancellation rules, and privacy policy apply to your reservation
• Any booking change, refund request, complaint, or guest service issue goes to the partner, not to us
• We do not have access to your booking record and cannot modify, cancel, or chase a reservation on your behalf

Accuracy of Property Information

We put real effort into keeping property descriptions, photos, and amenity lists accurate, and listings are refreshed against source data on a regular cadence. Even so, property details can change without us being told. A pet policy might shift for a season, a hot tub might be out of service for maintenance, or a discount can appear or disappear on the partner side.

Before you finalise a reservation, always verify the live price, availability, dates, sleeping arrangements, and policies on the booking partner's page. That page is the source of truth for the actual stay.

How We Choose Properties

Every property featured on Essex Lodges is handpicked. The baseline is straightforward:

• A self contained log cabin, lodge, or cottage suitable for a holiday stay
• A record of positive guest reviews, or a strong first season showing for newer properties
• Photography and descriptions that honestly represent the property
• An owner or operator with a track record we can verify through the booking partner

Where a property is listed under a themed collection, for example pet friendly stays, large group stays, or lodges with a private hot tub, the relevant amenity is confirmed on the booking partner's live page. We are happy to feature a newly launched property that has not yet built up a review history, provided the property itself, the images, and the partner all meet the standard above.

What We Cannot Be Held Responsible For

Essex Lodges is provided in good faith and on an "as is" basis. We cannot accept liability for:

• The condition, cleanliness, amenities, or conduct of any featured property
• Anything that happens during your stay, or before or after the stay
• Pricing, availability, or content changes on the booking partner's site
• Temporary downtime, broken links, or display errors on this site
• Decisions you make based on property details that later turn out to be outdated

If something has gone wrong with a booking, the quickest route is always the partner you booked with, because they hold your reservation record.

Our Content

The writing, page structure, design, and original photography on Essex Lodges belong to us. Property photos supplied by booking partners remain the property of the partner or the owner. You are welcome to link to any page on this site. You are not welcome to copy, scrape, republish, or repackage our written content, layout, or curated lists without written permission.

Changes

These terms will be updated from time to time as the site evolves or as our partners change. Continuing to use Essex Lodges after changes are published counts as acceptance of the updated version. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will always reflect the current version.
